Booking takes about two minutes online and costs nothing today. We confirm your date by email, then on the day we arrive, roll out the board mat, set all 32 pieces and check the ground is flat enough for a fair fight. When the party is done we come back, count the army home and disappear.
It suits almost any do in our patch: wedding lawns around Oxfordshire, village fete greens, corporate fun days that need something slower than the sack race, and family gatherings where three generations want a game they all know. It plays happily indoors too, a village hall floor takes the board just as well as grass.

How much space does giant chess need?
A flat patch roughly 3m x 3m for the board, plus room to stand around it and heckle. A small lawn, a terrace or a corner of a hall all work. Tell us the surface when you book and we lay it out where it looks best.
Can giant chess go indoors?
Yes, happily. The board mat sits flat on any hall or marquee floor and the pieces are light enough to move easily but stable enough not to topple at the first knock. It makes a brilliant quiet corner at a wedding or Christmas party.
Do people actually play it?
Constantly, though rarely by the rules. Expect one serious match, several chaotic ones, and a steady stream of photos with the king. Pair it with the giant games bundle and the whole lawn becomes a games field.
What happens if a chess piece gets damaged or lost?
Normal party knocks are expected and priced in. Pieces do wander, so we count the set at collection and if one has gone exploring we will ask you to have a look before we charge anything. We only charge for genuine loss or negligence, at cost, and we talk to you first.
Can I move the chess set during the party?
The pieces, yes, that is the game. The board itself is best left where we lay it, because we pick the flattest, safest spot. If you want it moved mid-event, a couple of adults can shift it in a few minutes, just keep it on level ground.
